Cheers to 2020!
I hope everyone is as excited about the New Year as I am ambivalent. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the celebrations (drinking, dancing, acting as if I don’t have work the next day) as much as the next person, so believe me when I say I’m not bitter. I just cannot find myself with the energy to pretend as if the “new year” isn’t just another day.
I love the resolutions and all the other words people use to promise themselves goals they’ll never see through to the end – I really do. I want people to want better for themselves and do better for themselves while we’re at it. I just want it to be consistent.
I think that will be my word for 2020 and I hope whoever takes the time to read this uses that word as well; consistency.
con·sist·en·cy
- The state or condition of always happening or behaving in the same way.
Not to say change isn’t good, but when you map out a plan – Stick to it! Hold yourself accountable as if your life depended on it. Now that I think of it, that will also be a 2020 word; accountability.
- The fact of being responsible for what you do and able to give a satisfactory reason for it
Anyway, in 2020, I hope you all treat yourself better than you did in 2019.
